Employment Opportunities at Total Truck Transport

Do you have what it takes to be a part of the Total Truck Transport team?

Our drivers and staff are a reflection of our company. ALL staff members must possess one important quality...a commitment to excellence.  We want people who are prepared to go the extra mile to ensure that a job is performed exactly as needed.  Our customers demand nothing less from us.

Positions include:

  • Warehouse Workers
  • Customer Service Representative
  • Dispatcher
  • House driver (Non-CDL)
  • House Driver (Class A tractor-trailer)
  • Contract drivers

Office and house driver positions are typically posted in the Craigslist Help Wanted section.  However, we are more than willing to accept resumes and applications at any time, and will hold them until a position becomes available, at which point those that have applied will be the first to be invited in for an interview.

Contract Drivers

Insurance Requirements for Contract Drivers

We are always looking for good, experienced contract drivers.  Whether you have a Sprinter/cargo van or straight truck we have work for you.

Contractors should come in to the station they wish to work at to speak with the station manager about becoming a driver.  We have three stations, IAD (Dulles Va), BWI (Baltimore Md), and MCO (Orlando Fl.)  Addresses are listed below.

Contract drivers must possess the following equipment prior to starting work with us:

  • Vehicle in good working condition, whether a van, sprinter, straight truck, or tractor. A DOT number is essential.  MC numbers are highly recommended for Maryland / Virginia drivers as we frequent many of the surrounding states.
  • Pallet jack (straight trucks)
  • 4-wheel movers dolly or flatbed hand truck, (for inside deliveries)
  • Packing blankets
  • Straps to secure freight within the vehicle
  • Android based cell phone running on a major carrier like AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon. (Two apps will be loaded to collect signatures and to submit PODs.)

INSURANCE

It is essential that drivers maintain the required insurance coverages.  A Certificate of Insurance (COI) is needed before contractors are permitted to come work for Total Truck Transport.  Click HERE to download a PDF copy of our insurance requirements.  We recommend that you send this sheet to your insurance agent to verify that you meet or exceed all of the required coverages.

Please note that ALL of these coverages MUST be on the COI before starting.  This is not negotiable!

Once a COI is in hand contractors may proceed to the next level which is signing a contract.  Contractors will then be scheduled for an intensive training period where we will review all of Total Truck Transport's policies and procedures, and oriented to our facility.  A heavy emphasis will be placed on our expectations of you as a representative of our company.

Contractors will also be trained and tested on the security aspects of the job.  Handling air cargo beings with it specific requirements that must be followed to the letter.  All drivers will be required to pass a TSA background check and will be tested annually to ensure that proper security procedures are being adhered to.

House Drivers

Total Truck Transport IAD maintains a fleet of straight trucks and tractor trailers that operate locally performing sweeps and local pickups and deliveries.

Applicants desiring to become house drivers must have a clean driving record...no accidents or moving violations within the past three years.  A driving record must be included when submitting an application.

In addition to a clean driving record, Class A drivers must have at least three years of experience behind the wheel.

House drivers must also be able to pass a TSA and criminal background check, and will be trained on all relevant security procedures required by TSA.

It should be noted that there is NOT a lot of turnover for our house driving positions.  While those submitting applications will be given first opportunities at an interview, it may be several months before a position comes open.

Warehouse Workers

We are proud of our warehouse staff.  With hundreds of pieces of freight being moved each and every day it is essential that those working in the warehouse be conscientious and detail oriented.  Slapping the wrong label on a piece of freight might send it halfway around the world when it's only supposed to go across town. It is a big responsibility and staff must be willing to accept that responsibility.

Warehouse workers are also subject to TSA and criminal background checks.

If you are interested in joining our team working in the warehouse please stop by the station office and pick up an application.  The application will be kept on file until a position comes open, at which point those with open applications will be givin the opportunity of the first interviews.
